We fail to divide for the institution. We withhold, withdraw, pivot away from, recollect. We replace support cased in concrete for this other hold grounded in breath. From around the kitchen table, following the circle dance, the seance, this is us practicing together.

This series originally emerged out of a desire to open up the Core Fellowship Program at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston to engagement with a wider local community. Following the closure of in-person programming due to COVID-19 and in response to the attempt of Core leadership to remove a number of fellows from the program due to their questioning of the program’s exclusivity, the 2020-21 series has left the institution and will continue independently in this online forum.

A fellow-led initiative first visioned and developed in 2019, each monthly roundtable centered around a publicly accessible in-person screening and dialogue. As the series moves online and out of the institution, we reimagine it as a space for autonomous, para-institutional experimentation. /roundtable seeks to gather a community to listen and learn together.
